Pinay Nurse from Saudi Positive from MERS
DOH confirmed that the 32-year-old Filipina nurse (not named yet) from Saudi Arabia is positive from Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus or (MERS-CoV).
The Ninoy Aquino International Airport and Bureau Of Quarantine is using a thermal scanner to identify and check the body temperature of the passengers arriving, so why is that they didn't find out that the nurse is infected with MERS?


Report says, that the nurse didn't shows all the symptoms of MERS upon her arrival from the airport last February 1, except for her cough. So, at first, the scanner can't identify if she has MERS. After a day, the symptoms of MERS is slowly showing. She is now confined at Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) last Tuesday, Feb. 10.

Last Wednesday, President Aquino directed the acting DOH (Department of Health) Secretary Janette Garin to prevent and stop the spread of the Middle East Respiratory Syndrome-Coronavirus (MERS-CoV). Also, presidential spokesman Secretary Edwin Lacierda said, "We have done all the necessary steps to ensure that make sure that those who have come into contact with this person has been informed, has been coordinated with,". The Bureau of Quarantine is making its move by collecting the yellow forms, for contact informations such as phone numbers, and addresses from fellow passengers of the Pinay nurse, so that they can be easily located if the show they same symptoms.

According to WHO (World Health Organization), MERS is a coronavirusesthat belong to a large family of viruses that cause a range of human illnesses. It started from a common colds to Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS).

As of February 5, 356 have died from the MERS and 971 is confirmed cases according to WHO. Also, last September 2014, another pinay nurse, who came also from Saudi, suspected to have MERS illness that scared netizens, until the test came out saying she's NEGATIVE with the virus.
